I would like to share a few items with you that we have "dug-up"
in researching Knott's Scary Farm Halloween Haunt history for a
book about the event. The following video is something
I think some of you long-time fans of the Haunt will like. If you
are new to the Haunt - I think you will like this video because
it shows some of the early beginnings of an event that we all love.
This video is a virtual ride-through of the "Haunted Mine" as it
appeared during the late 1970's and early 1980's at the Halloween
Haunt.
The audio and photographs were provided by John Waite who oversaw
the design/theme inside the Mine Ride (and Log Ride) during the
Halloween Haunt as an employee of Bud Hurlbut
(who created/owned both rides at the time before Knott's Berry Farm
purchased them in the early 1980's). The audio is an actual recording
of the "Haunted Mine" during one of the early Haunts.
These items were collected when conducting research for the upcoming
book outlining the history of Knott's Scary Farm Halloween Haunt.
This video was created to thank John Waite (and all of those who
worked with him) as an appreciation for the years of screams and
entertainment provided.
John was interviewed for the book and portions of his interview
will be published here on the website in the future. Until then...enjoy
this video!
